Theo Faberge Limited Edition 24k Gilt Gold Over Solid Sterling Silver & Cut Crystal Egg W/Ruby Red Crystal Olympic Flame Finial & Painted Red Enamel Accents Signed & Numbered 120/500 in Original Gilt Octogonal Presentation Box - This magnificent piece was made in England by Theo Faberge as a part of the St. Petersburg Collection. This egg is made of cut crystal mounted in 24k gilt gold over solid sterling silver. The crystal panels have been painted with ruby red enamel accents, and the piece is finished with a ruby red crystal, Olympic flame finial with ornate, incised details. The flame adorns the piece as a symbol of peace and goodwill. This egg was made in 1996 to commemorate the historic 100th anniversary of the Olympic Games, and the ideals of the games, promoting world peace through friendly sporting competition. The Egg also celebrates Atlanta as the host to these games and the last games of the twentieth century. This egg is truly an incredible piece of the highest investment quality, and shows spectacular attention to detail. When the egg is opened, it exposes a surprise sterling arena where all the athletes would come together. The center of the piece is inset with the likeness of the 1896 winner's medal, a symbol of excellence and achievement. This is a Faberge collector's dream come true, as there were only 500 of these produced and you never see them for sale in today's market. This egg is signed by Theo Faberge on the bottom of the piece and is numbered 120. The piece has the "TF" workmaster's mark, and is also fully hallmarked with English hallmarks for sterling, 1996, and London. The egg measures approx. 8.5" tall, and will come in the original gilt octogonal presentation box.
