Headdress for funeral events
Dimensions: 26.5 (height), 45 cm (diameter)
Very good condition
Object is regular taxed. 19% VAT is added to the purchase price for deliveries within the EU.

The crest consists of an oval, black-painted, flat base with four raised, red monkey masks and a yellow hourglass-shaped drum. In the middle of an anthropomorphic head is seated, wearing a large, black-colored hairstyle, which ends in a big, curved and widely projecting braid. The face is red and waers on his forehead a white-painted, two-row jewelry band. The cheeks are tattooed with a cross. The beard is dyed black. Behind the head is a small, flat animal mask attached with two long, twisted horns. The Egungun cult is a cult of ancestors, which worshiped the local ‘Orishas’ (gods). These crests are danced at funerals and benefit the fertility of the villagers.



The headdress is in very good condition with minimal signs of age and wear. The height is 26.5 cm and the diameter amounts 45 cm. (asi)
