Description
ENGLISH TRANSFER-PRINTED CHILDREN'S TOY CERAMIC TEA ARTICLES, LOT OF 11, including one teapot, one covered sugar, one pitcher/jug, one cup, two saucers, and two plates, in blue and pink, having transfer design of Punch and Judy, printed as "PUNCH" on base of most pieces, with a frog smoking a pipe and puppets; and one teapot and covered sugar marked for Thomas Elsmore & Son with green floral and bird transfer. Staffordshire and other areas. Second half 19th century. Tallest teapot 5 3/4" H.
Seven pieces undamaged, otherwise scattered flakes and repair.
Literature: "PUNCH" pattern as in Transferware Collectors Club database pattern # 1927.
Provenance: Collection of the late Shirley Reed, Maplewood, NJ.
