    Edward Sheriff Curtis (1868-1952) was an American photographer and ethnologist whose work focused on the American West and of Native American peoples. In 1898, 3 of his photographs were included in an exhibition held by the National Photographic Society. One of them won him the grand prize and a gold metal.
