Description

"Ktav Haskamah" - writ of approval of the Vercelli, Italy, community accepting Rabbi Chaim Sagri as their rabbi.Â Not dated. 17th century.
[1] folded leaf. 18x27 cm. Italian text on two pages.
The lack of a date seems to indicate that this is a draft of the ktavÂ haskamah.Â The names of the congregantsÂ and their seats is written in the margins, in a different hand. The back has bylaws regarding designating seats in the synagogue, along with: "×ž×›×‘×ª×™ ×¢"×“ ×ž×§×•× ×‘"×”, ×ª×ž"×‘..."
This Rabbi Chaim Sagri is apparently the same Rabbi Chaim Sagri whoÂ was sent in 1666 to study Shabtai Zvi. His son, Rabbi Elisha Sagri, was the rabbi of Vercelli.
