Description
Josef Frank (Swedish, born Austrian, 1885-1967) for Thonet (Austian, 1819-), circa 1920s. A pair of No. 752 bentwood armchairs, each with a squared slatted back, curved arms, a caned seat, and curved tapered legs, with applied spandrels. One with manufacturer's label under seat. Approximate height 28.5", width 26.25", seat depth 19.25", seat to floor 14.5".
Condition
Chairs are structurally sound although both arms could use tightening. Both chairs exhibit some bubbling to finish, chipping, surface scratches and heavy wear to back rails with some loss of finish. One of the slats on back of one chair slightly loose. Both chairs with breaks and repairs under the curve on the arms. Some chipping on legs. Legs may have been slightly cut down. Chairs would benefit from re-staining. Prior to bidding, please consult the additional photos provided and ask all pertinent questions (i.e. condition, size, etc.).
