    Hugo Adolf Bernatzik was an Austrian photographer and anthropologist, known to have founded the concept of alternative anthropology. After studying law and medicine, Bernatzik traveled frequently to several locations such as Africa, the South Pacific, New Guinea, and Southeast Asia. Most of these trips resulted in ethnographic studies or travel books and splendid photographs.
