Detailed, well-engraved and quite attractive map, the main portion being of the eastern half of the continental United States, with parts of Texas, Nebraska, and Western Territory present. There are insets of "Oregon, Northern California Santa Fe Etc." (with California encompassing present Nevada & Utah, Oregon occupyng the entire northwest and abutting on an enlarged Nebraska); New England; rail routes from New York to Philadelphia, and Philadelphia to Washington, D.C.; and rail and canal routes from Albany to Buffalo. Issued in Smith's New Guide for Travelers Throughout the United States of America.
