Description
American Classical Gilt-Stenciled and Brass-Strung Mahogany Pier Table, second quarter 19th century, school of Anthony Quervelle, Philadelphia, the rectilinear marble top over a gently bowed frieze with a gadrooned lower edge and flanked by brass-strung panels raised on tapering columns with brass capitals and bases, the low shelf with a gadrooned edge and cove molding retaining its period stenciling, the back with a mirror plate framed by stenciling and flanked by pilasters on parcel-gilt and ebonized gadrooned paw feet, h. 38-1/2", w. 41-3/4", d. 17-1/2".
Condition
In very good condition. Some minor veneer chips to the back side edges of the rear pilasters. Minor shrinkage to the lower shelf from age. The marble appears original, with some light stains and discoloration. Retains an old refinish with good color.
