Description
ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE POTTERY CHILDREN'S TOY AND OTHER ARTICLES, LOT OF EIGHT, comprising a plate printed with a Franklin motto about debtors and borrowing money, transfer-printed in brown with polychrome additions, two Gaudy Dutch cup plates, a toy footed bowl and two plates printed in purple with the "Fishers" pattern, a ceramic copy of a glass cup plate, and a blue marbleized cup plate. Various printed, inscribed and impressed marks to undersides. Circa 1825 and later. Bowl 2 5/8" H, remainder 3 3/8" to 4 3/4" D.
Provenance: From the Franklin Stoneburner estate collection, Delavan, WI.
Condition
The first crazed and stained, the two Gaudy plates both broken and glued, toy plates undamaged, other articles with imperfections.
