Continental Oil on Canvas Picture Clock. Large continental landscape painting with figures dancing in the foreground, a building with a 1 hand clock tower to the left, a dirt pathway leads past a large house and into the valley in the background; painting is unsigned, c. mid-19th century, has a tear in the upper right corner, has patches on the reverse of the canvas in front of the mechanisms. Clock tower has a cutout aperture for a 2 in. painted metal dial, large French round brass spring driven silk thread movement signed "Pons" (Honore Pons) and "Le Roy A Paris", has an half hour strike on a coiled gong (once on the half hour). Also has a second brass spring driven striking movement with pyramidal shaped plates, strikes on 2 coiled gongs, mechanism is not connected and a miniature spring driven cylinder music box with pull string winding mechanism, has 2 missing teeth and missing pull string. Clock dial has paint loss, clock is missing its pendulum, but is running and striking. Canvas measures 25 in. high x 31.5 in. wide - Frame measures 34 in. high x 40.5 in. wide x 8 in. deep.
