Hallmarked 1824 AD. A flat-section hoop with median band of white enamel to the outer face, reserved text 'MARY.FRANCES.GAY' and palmettes; to the inner face; to the inner face 'Ob. 27 Aug 1824 At 50', maker's mark 'SG', hallmarks of profile bust, crown '18', lion's head and date letter 'i' (for 1824"). 4.64 grams, 19mm overall, 17.92mm internal diameter (approximate size British P, USA 7 1/2, Europe 16.23, Japan 15) (3/4"). Property of a Suffolk lady; formerly in the Deago collection, by descent from the vendor's mother.
