A fine, early Lakota pipe bag with beaded panels front and rear with differing patterns in each, rollwork at the top, and a panel of quilled rawhide slats below. The quills are commercially dyed red with two undyed boxes. Within those boxes are dark center stripes dyed apparently with natural dye, probably wild grape. Attached to the slats is buckskin fringe. One side shows horse stealer tracks atop red and white stripes. Sinew sewn. Beaded in early trade beads throughout, some bead loss as expected with age. Dimensions: 7 in. wide x 34 in. long including fringe.
