Description
Glazed Redware Turk's Head Mold, Stamped Twice "J. BELL," John Bell, Waynesboro, PA, circa 1840, decorated with manganese sponging around interior and exterior of rim and end of central tube. Additional finer-grained sponged manganese running diagonally along lobes of mold. Impressed twice along body with desirable, early "J. BELL" maker's mark. Very nice condition. A few minor rim chips. A minor glazed-over line from rim, measuring 3/4" on interior and 3/8" on exterior. A second minor glazed-over line from rim, visible on interior only, and measuring approximately 1". A faint 2" hairline from rim. H 3 3/4" 8 3/4". ($400-$600)
