Elementa conica Apollonii Paergei et Archimedis opera nova & breviori methodo demonstrata , 8 folding engraved plates, a few leaves a little browned, contemporary limp vellum, [Riccardi I 160], 8vo, Paris, Abraham Bosse, 1643. First edition of Borelli s treatise on conic sections , embodying his reworking of Apollonius and Archimedes. This was part of his lifelong project of reexamining the classic texts of mathematics and recasting them in modern form. Provenance: Bibliotheca Podolin (ink inscription to title).
