Villemot has been referred to as the 'finest French artist of the last 50 years'. One of his greatest strengths lay in his ability to reduce all images to simple lines and bold colors. He combined this talent with an engaging charm. Villemot won every award in the field,
including the prestigious Martini Gold Medal in 1957. This poster is One (1) of Villemot's inimitable stunners for Bally shoes, designed to catch our eye and then delight us with its cleverness: note how smoothly we are being told that both men's and women's shoes are being advertised. It is the last of many distinguished Bally posters created by Villemot, appearing on the streets of Paris a few weeks before his death.46 x 67
