American Revolution1792 Revolutionary War Depreciation Account Document

February 27, 1792, Dated Revolutionary War Depreciation Account Document, Choice Very Fine.
This is an original, Partially-Printed, Revolutionary War Service, depreciation of funds due to a soldier, account document. It to Joseph Cummins in the State of Rhode Island, on Feb. 27, 1792, assigned the balance of money due him as a soldier in the late State Regiment commanded by Col. Archibald Crary to a person named Reuben Ballou. A search for Reuben Ballou produced the record of an military officer in Rhode Island who served during the Revolutionary War period and following. The document is whole, clean, well printed on laid paper. A very scarce Revolutionary War Depreciation Account Document from Rhode Island.

In 1785, the legislature attempted to obtain additional pay for soldiers. No provision for funding the payments was made and no payments were forthcoming. There were attempts to get Congress to pass a bill appropriating money. Over time, various soldiers assigned their entitlement to speculators, who offered ready cash for less than the face value of the amount due the soldier
