Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "H. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Underside incised "M" in script, presumably for the noted Alexandria potter, Benedict C. Milburn. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, recently found in New England. Losses to handles. 6 1/4" very tight spidering line extending up front of jar, a small section of which is visible on interior. A hairline extending across underside. Additional very faint surface lines to underside, which extend a few inches up base around circumference of jar and are not visible on interior. A small base chip and tiny base nick.
