Description
A late Victorian 18ct gold hardstone cameo ring and a Georgian 9ct gold mourning brooch. The ring designed as a marquise-shape hardstone cameo of a lady, the brooch designed as a hair panel within a split pearl surround dated 1823. Ring with hallmarks for Birmingham 1900. Length of brooch 2.1cms. Total weight 6.8gms.
Condition
The lot is in good overall condition with light scratches in keeping with general wear. The ring has partial hallmarks, the gold quality mark is deficient. Slight nick to the pint of the cameo edge. Ring size N. Brooch pin deficient. There is a scratch and associated slight discolouration to a small area on the reverse of the brooch. Inscription reads "Mrs Mary Ryland Ob 27 Dec'r 1823 At 68. " Glass shows moderate abrasion to edges. Split pearls show slight discolouration.
