Description
Native American, central/midwestern United States, Eastern Woodland, ca. 500 to 1500 CE. A pair of hand-carved stone axe heads. The first is carved from mottled beige and gray stone and has a thick butt end, a three-quarters groove, and a thick blade head with an acutely angled edge. The larger axe head is shaped from gray green stone and has an ovoid butt end, a nearly full groove around the midsection, and a blade head with one dramatically convex face. Size of largest: 4.75" L x 2.375" W (12.1 cm x 6 cm)

Condition
Both tools have chips and abrasions commensurate with age, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to overall form. First axe head has "118" written in black ink on one side, and the largest axe head has "117" written in black ink on one side.
