JACKSON, WILLIAM HENRY (1843-1942)
"Excursion of the Mexican Associated Press to the Royal Gorge, D. & R. G. R." Albumen print, 21 1/4x17 inches (54x43.2 cm.), with Jackson's credit, title and date in the negative; mounted and framed. 1885

Jackson operated a photography studio in Denver, Colorado from 1879 until 1898, during which time in which he perfected his mammoth-plate albumen prints. He was hired by the founder of the Denver & Rio Grande Railway, William Jackson Palmer, to promote this new transportation hub. The image depicts a group of dignataries in front of Palmer's excursion train at Royal Gorge.
