Description
Fernand Leger, French, 1881 to 1955, color lithograph depicting a hand and playing cards from the Circus series. Edited by Teriade, Les Editions Verve, Paris, 1950. Signed with the initials FL lower right. The reverse contains text in French, numbered 94 lower left. Joseph Fernand Henri Leger was a French painter, sculptor, and filmmaker. In his early works he created a personal form of cubism known as tubism, which he gradually modified into a more figurative, populist style. His boldly simplified treatment of modern subject matter has caused him to be regarded as a forerunner of pop art. Collectible Graphic Artworks, Prints and Multiples.
