Description:
Cover from Canada to France, recovered from S.S "Eros" torpedoed off the coast of Donegal on June 7th, the stamp washed off, with two differing "SALVED FROM THE SEA" cachets (in violet and black, the latter on the front and reverse). France had been invaded by the time the cover was salvaged, therefore handstamped "NO SERVICE / RETURN TO SENDER" with "SERVICE SUSPENDU" applied in Canada, the reverse with officially sealed tape tied by an Ottawa Dead Letter Office c.d.s (Aug 14).
