This is a very attractive double-page map of the Americas. Western portions of Europe and Africa are shown as well. Northern part of North America past California wasn’t yet discovered by Westerners, and this map reflects that with blank spaces for this unchartered region. Indian tribal lands are named in the map. Great deal of detail customary by this great German cartographer as to topography, rivers, lakes and settlements. The large title cartouche includes two erupting volcanoes, Native Americans, palm trees, sugar cane, parrots, and a pot of gold.
