Item Details

Description

Rare Lang-Langi Abaca Fiber Festival Hanging, Sangihe Islands, Sulawesi, Indonesia, Late 19th-Early 20th C. With supplementary weft. This panel is quite early and came to light in an old Dutch colonial collection. These cloths share commonalities with abaca textiles from nearby Mindanao in the Southern Philippines. Size: 1'3'' x 3'1'' (38 x 94 cm).
