Description
Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881-1973) Attributed: La Mono, 24.6.58. Pastel on paper, signed and dated lower right, framed. Titled card fixed to the back of the frame. This item is accompanied by a notarized document stating transfer of ownership, and limited provenance starting with a collector who owned an antique store in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Picasso was the most dominant and influential artist of the first half of the twentieth century. Associated most of all with pioneering Cubism, alongside Georges Braque, he also invented collage and made major contributions to Symbolism and Surrealism.
25 x 18 inches paper; 33.5 x 27.5 inches framed.
Helen Connolly reported to have been acquired in a private sale in Spain 1960's or 70's; by descent to her son; by decent to her late son's wife; acquired in a private sale, 2006, by a California Gentleman.
