Chinese massive polychrome enamel decorated vase, Late Qing/Early Republic period, the waisted neck applied with two lug handles and painted with large figural panels depicting mothers and children on a garden terrace, this theme of ''Four Wives and Sixteen Children'' repeated on the main body together with fan and ruyi-form panels reserved on a ground of butterflies amid fruiting and flowering sprays, the sloping shoulder with a wide band of floral sprays linking ruyi-shaped panels of birds-and-flowers or scholar's implements on a ground of dense scrollwork and bracketed by linked jewel border bands repeated above the tall ring foot, the base with apocryphal Qianlong mark (minor rim chips).
