A novelty clay pipe bowl with a roughly cuboid-shaped body, the two top edges curved in imitation of a memorial stone, inscription to the two principal faces: 'Whittington thrice lord mayor of London born 1350' 'Whittington Stone Highgate Hill IV Miles to London'; short length of the stem remaining, with a figure of Dick Whittington modelled sitting and resting against the bowl. 16 grams, 4 cm wide (1 1/2 in.) London Mudlark, Thames foreshore, pre 2000. Ian Wilkinson collection, Nottinghamshire, UK, formed since 1985. [1, No Reserve]
