Anno 1669 on the cover of the book hanging from the edge of the table (lc); inscribed De mortuis nil nisi [bonum dicendum] (of the dead nothing but good is to be said) on the sheet of paper extending from the books on the table; and Memento Mori (remember that you must die) on the sheet at upper right
