identified Ellen Altham / Clitheroe / April 28 1826.
having biblical and foliate motifs, including Adam and Eve with the Tree of Knowledge.
12 x 14 1/2 inches.

Lancashire Parish Records document the baptism of Ellen Altham in 1818 and her marriage to Nathaniel Walsh in 1841.

Condition
Framed: 15 x 19 3/8 inches.

In overall fine and stable condition. Overall toning to ground, with some areas of darker discoloration. Slight warping as blocked, with some fraying to edges and areas of minor tearing at upper right corner. Darker threads have bled to ground, while areas of lighter stitching have faded (animals at upper right, Adam and Eve). Signature and date are bold and well-defined.
