Item DetailsTitle: Chinese Guangxu Polychrome Teacup Mark & Period Size: 2 ½” (6.4 cm) diameter x 1 ¼” (3.2 cm) tall. Description: A very intricate and very expertly painted teacup with a Guangxu reign mark and period that is so very delicate and minute.
The thinly potted porcelain teacup that is almost eggshell. It is painted with of lotus scrolling and four panels with a character in each. The cup has a key fret border at the mouth rim and a lappet border above the foot. The painting is very well done.
The foot is high and unglazed. There are traces of grit on the foot. The glazed base has a six character Guangxu reign mark on the base painted in iron red.
MEASUREMENTS
2 ½” (6.4 cm) diameter x 1 ¼” (3.2 cm) tall. Weighs 1.3 oz (35 g)
CONDITION
There are no chips, cracks, or breaks. There is slight wear in the well of the cup, as well as to the gilding. Otherwise, the glazes are fresh and bright. There are a couple of tiny black spots from manufacture in the well.
The teacup is worthy of serving the Guangxu emperor. It is very fine and refined.
