What a darling Mid Century Modern kitty cat brooch from jewelry artist Joan Polsdorfer (1904-1985). This is an adorable stylized winking kitty is laying down with one eye open, stone appears jade or chrysoprase. It is marked on the back JoPol Sterling 109 with 888 hand etched in. Measures 2" long.
Polsdorfer became the first American jewelry designer for Georg Jensen USA. It was supposed to be kept quiet that she was American so she started using the JoPol moniker. I have not found one example of this cat in vermeil.
