A CARVED MAORI TIKI WOOD FIGURE
New Zealand, mid-20th century. The caramel-colored wood carved as a standing male figure atop a square base, with a large head and three-fingered hands clasping an extended abdomen, the head and parts of the body carved with traditional maori tattoo designs, the almond eyes inlaid with paua shell. An incised artist's monogram 'P' to backside.
Condition: Very good condition with minor surface wear.
Provenance: Austrian private collection.
