THREE SMALL 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' PORCELAIN DISHES
China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). Two with rounded sides rising from a short foot, painted in underglaze blue on the show side with three-clawed dragons swirling among flames. One dragon placed eccentrically inside of a double circle, two of them nicely arranged around centrical lines. The underside with stylized peonies, clouds, and geometrical patterns. One dish with shallow rounded sides rising to the slightly everted lip, painted in underglaze blue to the interior with phoenixes amongst clouds. The underside decorated with clouds.
Condition: Fine condition with firing flaws, and some expected wear. One dish with a chip to the underside rim and some manufacturing flaws.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by a second-generation member of the Holzapfel family and has remained in the family ever since.
