Emerald Deldare Ware humidor / cigar box produced by Buffalo Pottery of Buffalo, NY. American, 1911 (early 20th century). Marked on bottom. Hand painted and signed by W. Foster (possibly transfer with hand coloring). Humidor depicts a domestic (house) scene of Dr. Syntax and his family, and his wife threatens to whip him while the doctor smokes his pipe. The lid has Art Nouveau - like vegetal and butterfly motifs, along with an image of Dr. Syntax and his dog on the top knob. The lid has part of the sponge remaining in the well. Good condition overall, with some chips in the ceramic on interior rim of humidor. 7" tall by 6 1/4" wide. Keywords: antique, ceramic, pot, vase, Americana, decor, decoration, fancy, America
