1907 Roosevelt Bears pitcher produced by Buffalo Pottery of Buffalo, New York. American, early 20th century (1907). Square base ceramic pitcher with transfer decorations, with hand painted coloring, of anthropomorphic Roosevelt Bears, like fixing their car, teaching school, an even riding a giraffe. The Roosevelt Bears are from Seymour Eaton's 1906 children's book of the same name. The Roosevelt or Teddy Bears were modeled after President Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt had no problem with his name and likeness being used in this way, and this pitcher dates to Roosevelt's presidency. Bottom is marked with Buffalo Pottery stamp mark, 1907, and "Copyright Edward Stern & Co", "5". Underglaze crayon mark reads "1436 O". The pitcher is in good condition, with no major damage, chips, or cracks.
