    Philippe Halsman was an American photographer born in Latvia in 1906. He worked for the fashion magazine Vogue and the cosmetics firm Elizabeth Arden in France and America, and soon gained a reputation as one of the best portrait photographers, known for his close cropped and sharp focused portraits. His photo portriats of iconic figures such as Salvador Dali and Marilyn Monroe are recognized worldwide today.
