About the scupltor: The son of state adviser Ludwig Paul (Alexander Pavlovich) Lansere (1815-1869) (the son of Major of the Napoleonic army Paul Lansere, who received Russian citizenship) and Eleanor Antonovna Yakhimovskaya (1824-1856), a pupil of the Barons Vornesius (who lived in Morshansk).
Born in Morshansk, he entered the local gymnasium. From childhood, in his works, he chose the theme that he will be passionate about all his life - horses. Subsequently, the young sculptor will make a number of long trips to Central Asia, the Caucasus and North Africa, adding to his work many ethnic images (Afghan, Arab, etc.), which greatly enriched his work.
In 1861, he moved to Petersburg with his family. There he graduated from the 2nd St. Petersburg Gymnasium and the Faculty of Law of St. Petersburg University [1]. I did not receive a special art education and was engaged in modeling myself, using the advice [1] of N. I. Liberich [2]. In 1872, for his work, he received from the Academy of Arts the title of class artist of the 1st degree [3]. In 1874, he was recognized as an honorary freelancer of the Academy of Arts. Since 1879 he was a member of the Moscow Society of Art Lovers.
He was a major animal painter, portrayed horses beautifully, including in historical subjects. In total, he created about 400 works [3]. His works are presented in the exposition of the Radishchevsky Museum, the National Art Museum of Belarus, are stored in the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, etc.
His son and daughter - Evgeny Evgenievich and Zinaida Evgenievna became artists [2], the youngest son Nikolai Evgenievich became an architect.
