A late Victorian reverse crystal intaglio stickpin, the oval intaglio painted with a fishing fly hook, 21mm long, with beaded border, 7.8cm long, in a leather case gilt stamped 'Angler's Tournament At Wimbledon Lake 9th May 1896. Prize For Fly Casting. From T. R. Sachs, Esqre. President, Piscatorial Society London' Thomas Ransom Sachs was husband of Ellen Tessier, from the noted family of jewellers. Sachs himself was Practical Jeweller to the Queen and Royal family and operated from 22 Hyde Park Place. The Piscatorial Society's Papers, vol. 1 quotes 'I must refer to Mr. Sach's contributions to piscatorial art in the form of the exquisite enamels on gold of salmon and other fish, in each case his own execution'.
