Description
AMERICAN, PROBABLY PENNSYLVANIA, CHALKWARE ANIMAL FIGURES, LOT OF THREE, each hollow form with polychrome paint decoration, comprising a seated cat, a seated squirrel eating a nut, and a bunny rabbit with black spots, a red collar, and a medallion on its chest. Second half 19th century. 5 1/2" to 7 1/4" HOA.
Good overall condition with some wear, surface scratches, flakes to paint decoration; cat with a chip to one ear, flakes to other ear, paper label remnants to one hind leg; squirrel with repairs to arm and to base; rabbit with two chips and flakes to base.
Provenance: The collection of the late Theodore "Ted" and Alvina Breckel, Oley, PA and Winnetka, IL.
Rabbit: Jerry Greenblatt, Verdigris Antiques, NIADA Show, Rockford, IL, 2/20/2010.
Condition
Good overall condition with some wear, surface scratches, flakes to paint decoration; cat with a chip to one ear, flakes to other ear, paper label remnants to one hind leg; squirrel with repairs to arm and to base; rabbit with two chips and flakes to base.
