Lot 0030 Details

Description
19th century Kyoto ware Japanese ceramic rounded octagonal kashiki dish enameled on the inside with a phoenix in flight above blooming flowers. Used for holding sweets served during tea ceremony. Very pleasant potting, sand-colored stoneware with beautifully crackled glaze. Decorated in Ninsei style with thickly painted green, light green, red, black and blue enamels. Some wear to enamel, beautiful patina. Marked with 4 hand written characters in ink on recessed unglazed bottom. Very nice object in Japanese taste. Width 5 3/4 inches.
