Lot 0004 Details

Description
Early 19th century small Japanese cloisonne tray in fan shape decorated on the front with a bird perched on a branch of a blooming peony, and with kikyo-zaki (Japanese morning glory) flowers next to it. Back is decorated with rounded octagons and scrolling vine on blue ground. Used for tea ceremony. Rare and early piece in terms of Japanese cloisonne, from the period of transition from Chinese to Japanese style, great for a study collection. Very pleasant matte finish with original pitting. Length 5 7/16 inches.
