Lot consists of a 19th C. Chinese ginger jar. It has a cover but I don't think it is the proper one. Approx. size is 7" inches tall by 6 1/2" inches wide. The jar is in good condition.

Description
  • Title: Chinese Late 19th c. Double Happiness Ginger Jar
  • Dimensions: 5 ½” (14.0 cm) tall x 5 1/8” (13.0 cm) diameter.
  • Description: Painted in a deep blue cobalt with a design of a double happiness symbol on two sides with peony flowers between them. The designs are surrounded by scrolling. The neck has a cross hatch border with a ruyi border above the foot and below the neck. The glaze is thick, very smooth and feels very soft. The neck and mouth are unglazed. The shallow foot is unglazed and only slightly rounded. .

    There are two number characters written in black ink at the mouth.

    MEASUREMENTS

    5 ½” (14.0 cm) tall x 5 1/8” (13.0 cm) diameter. Weighs 1 lb 7.6 oz (670 g)

    CONDITION

    There are no cracks or breaks. There is a chip inside the foot and three small ones outside the foot. The foot and neck have some grit adhering. There are kiln flaws such as black spots, pin hole reserves, and bumps. There are light scratches wear on outer surfaces.

    A well painted and decorated ginger jar with that nice deep blue cobalt. A great addition to a collection or to add richness to the home décor.
