WW2 Bomber POW veterans multiple signed 10 x 6 inch b/w Lancaster photo. Signed by W/O Phil Bates 149 sqn Wellington, W/O W G Billy Bell 166, 103 sqn Bill joined the RAF in 1941 and was posted to 103 Squadron at RAF Elsham Wolds as a Navigator on Halifaxes. He was later transferred to 166 Squadron, and was on his 20th operation, flying to Berlin in November 1943 when he was shot down and ended up as a PoW in Stalag Luft IVb. He escaped on three separate occasions but was recaptured every time - the war finished just before his fourth attempt! Sqn Ldr Alfie Fripp 57 sqn Blenheim He was shot down by the Luftwaffe in 1939 and held in twelve different prisoner of war camps, including Stalag Luft III, later the site of the "Great Escape". As the last of the "39ers" (those taken prisoner in the first year of the war), he was the oldest surviving and longest serving British POW, W/O Frank Mannion 10 sqn Halifax, W/O Cal Younger 46 sqn. Good condition. All autographs come with a Certificate of Authenticity. We combine postage on multiple winning lots and can ship worldwide.
